What's in store for 2012

2011, the year that was, brought us a bunch of new and exciting developments that have forever changed the way we live and work. Hardware wise we found ourselves getting even more hands on as tablet usage surged in popularity. The terms 'swiping' and 'tapping' entered the common vernacular as we became 'multi-gestural' in our interactions. The iPad stood out as the star player in a team of increasingly powerful mobile devices, as the netbook ended it's short career, permanently retiring to the sideline.

We were inundated with a plethora of ways to connect as social media sites appeared and disappeared in rapid succession. We learnt to 'like' everyone and anyone as reputation ranking and social bookmarking found it's way into almost every corner of the web. Facebook continued to dominate the social media space (half a billion users to date), upsetting users with its redesign, and shaking things up as the 'Timeline' update gave us yet another reminder that 'the web never forgets'.

Twitter evolved to the next level, amassing a total of 100 million users along the way, introducing 'Brand pages' in an effort to pursue ad revenue.

We all looked up, metaphorically, to what the 'cloud' would bring as both Microsoft and Apple introduced the novelty (and practicality) of cloud based computing services tot he masses through their competing television commercials.

All in all 2011 has paved the way for a range of trends and innovations that will reshape the way we view the web and the possibilities it holds.

Here at Terah we're looking to further embrace lean startup methodologies for all our new business 'start up' clients, assisting them to get up and running and turning a dollar from the get go. On the development front we're excited about the work we're doing with HTML5 and CSS3, given the direction browser standardisation is headed. Additionally, we're also interested in the future of responsive and adaptive web design, and exploring ways of presenting sites in the most appropriate format,  regardless of the device, browser or viewing orientation.

During 2012 Terah will continue the metamorphosis from web development service to digital strategy partner as we further demonstrate our capability to deliver full service web solutions. We'll continue to build, stable, fit for purpose solutions that change the way you do business, with increasing attention on building your brand through strategic communication.

We look forward to working with all our new and existing clients in what will be a very exciting year.

The Terah Team.
